The origin of Her PeHERsonality: The Privilege to Feel is inspired by self-exploration of my post-traumatic emotions.
It is inevitable that in our lives we undergo traumas, big and small, but it is how we respond to those situations that gives us strength. To understand the impacts of trauma, one must first admit the possibility of being a victim of such tragedies. It is through understanding the impacts my past has on the present that I executed my current series. Identifying what triggers one’s emotions and stress helps our minds to grapple with missing memories to protect us from trauma; this can be defined as emotional intelligence.
It is my artistic charge to create artwork to heal my trauma and encourage others who struggle with healthy coping to do the same.

Emotions are a necessary part of our humanity. We do not choose what we feel; rather, emotions choose to allow us expression. When we lose control of our ability to feel, we lose control of our minds.

We hold the power to determine in life if we will remain the victims or the victors of our traumas. In turning my experience with abuse into uniquely beautiful art, I am taking back from the pain and painting something beautiful.

As an artist and healing woman, it is my priority with this body of work to generate a supportive space for conversation and healing. In discussing sensitive subjects, there must be a place for willingness to listen without judgment. We are all human and trying to survive in a world that can be harsh and cold.
